Where teachers teach teachers about content
State Standards
State teaching standards drive me crazy. True learning comes when the kids drive the content. For example, the other day a 6th grader asked me how does dental insurance work. He wanted to know how the insurance made money if they were paying for his teeth to be cleaned. Great question with math and economic principals to be taught, but I really couldn't give it the time it deserved due to meeting my goals on state standards.
